Regional WASH adviser- West and Central Africa

Recrute
Regional WASH adviser- West and Central Africa

About Save the Children
Save the Children UK signed off the so called Ambition 2015, an ambition focussed at delivering world class programmes for children, and has identified 6 pillars of response, namely Health, Education, Hunger & Livelihoods, Child Protection and reduction of Poverty. And within the Health programme, Save the Children has chosen Newbern and Child survival (NCS) as one of its top organisational priorities, with the overall objective of reaching 8.8 million children with health services, with an approach centred around 4 “pillars”: direct programme interventions, political and policy change, popular mobilisation and fundraising.
Save the Children’s origins in WASH programming lies in emergency response, but in 2013, Save the children expanded her MNCH programme efforts to realise her Ambition 2015 goal, and subsequently established several posts such as that of Maternal and Child Heath; Child and Immunisation & a WASH post, having realised the cost effectiveness on integrating a WASH programme into current and new MNCH programmes in the field. Such integrated WASH/MNCH programmes will contribute significantly to tackling the reduction of diarrhoea diseases and pneumonia, which is one of the leading diseases in fewer than five children resulting in high infant mortality. As such, the MNCH programme has developed an integrated WASH programme into the MNCH programme and is committed to building this integrated programme in the 21 Save the Children’s UK priority countries. In order to achieve this goal, there is a need to establish WASH regional advisers for the different operational regions and West Africa is one of them.
About the Role
The regional WASH adviser will liaise with country programmes and regional Save the Children management to facilitate the delivery of integrated WASH programmes in countries in the region using the WASH sub-strategy as basis of programming in the countries implementing WASH developmental programmes or in countries implementing emergency WASH programmes or countries in transition. Support will be provided from a distance and through regular visits and the post-holder will be expected to work closely with colleagues in Save the Children International |Regional office, Advocacy and Global programme teams in London head office.
